Assistant Coach - Red Half Marathon

Number of years running – 7!! I started running for the first time in my life just 7 years ago. Prior to that time, I had walked lots of 5K’s, but never even knew that running one would be possible for me. My first half marathon was in 2013 – Ron and I trained on our own – and we both loved it. We joined USA FIT in the fall of that year and have done it every year since. I’ve always loved being outdoors and being active, but it wasn’t until 2012, when I met Ron, that I finally decided to try running. I discovered the walk/run method through USA FIT and have used it since 2013 to complete many races. So far, I have completed 8 half marathons and numerous 5k’s and 10k’s.

Number of Half’s completed – 8
Favorite Races – Firecracker 5K (where Ron and I met). Since meeting Ron there, we have since added our kids and now grandkids to the bunch that run that race together!

Favorite Distance – I love the training for the half, but a 10K is the absolute perfect distance for me.

Hobbies (other than running) – When I am not running, I keep busy with grandkids, sewing, painting (watercolors), volunteering, camping and photography.  Ron and I enjoy running together, but I am also very thankful to have met some great running buddies through USA FIT that help keep me motivated throughout the year.
